Ubiquitous labor media source Bob Bruno, director of the University of Illinois' School of Labor and Employment Relations' Labor Education Program, was quoted in an Oct. 3 Chicago Tribune article on the state of U.S. manufacturing.
Here's what he had to say: "... earnings in newer manufacturing jobs 'are not poverty wages, but they are not middle class. If the jobs don't pay sufficiently better, sadly, it will turn the manufacturing sector into another low-wage market, and we already have many of those.'"
