Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations professor and LERA member Risa Lieberwitz was quoted in an Oct. 18 Bloomberg Businessweek article, "When the Boss Is on Team Romney." The article addresses the election-year phenomenon of bosses threating employees with losing their jobs if they vote the "wrong" way in the presidential election.
Is this legal? Here's what Lieberwitz has to say:
“Ethics and law don’t always match. While it seems undemocratic for someone who has that much power over you to tell you which way to vote, the law gives a lot of power to private-sector employers.”
