Kentucky Labor and Employment Relations Association (KLERA) was formed for the purposes of encouragement of research in all aspects of the field of labor, employment, and the workplace. This includes employer and employee organization, employment and labor relations, human resources, labor markets, income security, and related fields. KLERA promotes full discussion and the exchange of ideas between and among all constituencies— academic, labor, management, neutral, and public—on the planning, development, conduct, and results of research in these fields and the usefulness and application of the research to practice and policy.

In implementing these purposes, KLERA will assume no partisan position on questions of policy in these fields, nor will it commit its members to any position on such questions.

The Kentucky Labor Employment Relations Association (KLERA), coordinates five lunches or dinners a year November through April. Recent events have included Mike Luvisi, Esq., GE Human Resources Manager and Jerry Carney, President, IUE-CWA Local 83761, who spoke on the subject "The New Collective Bargaining Agreement between General Electric and the IUE-CWA held at the University Club. In December Angela McCorkle Buckler, Esq., Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP spoke on the topic "An Overview of Kentucky Unemployment Laws" which was held at the Seelbach Hotel. On February 8, Tony Belak, Esq. spoke on "Is There a Right to Dignity at Work?" also held at the University Club.

The 2012-2013 Luncheon Series provides an opportunity for labor, management, academic, and government officials to hear speakers on topics of immediacy and concern. Presenters are recruited on the basis of their knowledge, experience, and expertise in areas of special interest to the labor-management community. Sessions begin at 12 noon and end at 1:30 p.m. at the University Club, located on the northeast corner of UofL's Belknap Campus, unless otherwise noted. The University Club features free parking in the parking lot on the left side of the Club.
